My name is John Wallace. I'm a writer and editor with particular expertise in digital media for health and social issues. | |||||||||||||||||||
What's different? As a writer, I'm obsessed with clarity, readability and audience appropriateness. I also know that great communications are always team efforts. So I pride myself on producing easily digested copy documents that are simple for designers and technicians to make into actual, working resources. Whatever the job, I use a multi-draft approval process so that what goes out into the world says exactly what you thought it would.
Media and audiences I write and edit for print, digital and moving image media for audiences from childhood to later life and across the full range of abilities. I develop concepts and scripts for interactive media and games. I edit and write reports and help academics reach wider audiences with their research findings. Here and there, there's been a spot of a spot of journalism too.
How I do it I can start with an outline brief, or can work with you to help you develop one. I also join projects at advanced stages when they need a skilled wordsmith to get them over the line that separates the passable from the essential. I can work from source materials you provide, research topics as required or create entirely new content, for example by interviewing relevant experts.
Why I do it I believe in the power of information to make things better.
Why 'Mental Elf?' I invented Mental Elf in 1998 to help explain basic mental health self-help to young people aged 16-25. Here he is. We've been together ever since.
